Crossroads Farmers Market

Crossroads market (located at the Takoma Park / Langley Park Crossroads near the Montgomery and Prince George’s County lines) opened in 2007 with a mission to improve access to fresh and local food for all Marylanders while providing opportunities for new and immigrant farmers in a community space that is warm, welcoming, and inclusive.

After becoming one of the first in Maryland (in conjunction with Takoma Park Market) to accept all federal nutrition benefits available at farmers markets, Crossroads has continued to grow and thrive as a bustling community organization, extending its work year-round with innovative educational, outreach, and statewide coordination efforts.

One such innovative program is Fresh Checks, which matches federal nutrition benefits with cash-value coupons for use at market, creating an incentive for low-income shoppers to use their benefits at market and providing additional revenue to farmers.
