SNAP EBT farmers market information sent to DSS clients

Today (as part of a larger mailing) information is being sent to Department of Social Services (DSS) clients to inform them that they can use their electronic benefit cards (EBT)  at farmers’ markets.

This handy DSS Card will reach approximately 178,000 SNAP households throughout Maryland, helping to spread the word that their Independence Card can be used to buy fresh local produce and support farmers.

A similar mailing was sent last year and led to increased traffic at the markets; we hope that providing this information prior to some market openings this year will lead to more anticipation and awareness to start the season off with a bang!
